The Samarium Cobalt series of super magnets are primarily used for high temperature applications. Please note that SmCo magnets chip very easy. They do not have the problem with oxidation like the neodymium magnets but the slightest impact will chip away a little flake of the magnet. These have maximum operating temperature of 300C.
You will quickly notice that Samarium Cobalt costs a lot more than Neo. Typically it is 3 times the cost of N50 for the exact same size and N50 is about 40% stronger, but temperatures of 80C kill its strength. Cobalt is an extremely expensive material and is what drives the price so high.
Should there be a size you need and don't see, please contact MEREDITH. She'll be happy to contact the Manufacturer for a custom quote. Please provide: Exact dimensions, Strength, Quantity and Direction of magnetism.
